First tulips blooming at Yassawi University's Botanical Garden
The first tulips, harbingers of spring and renewal of nature, bloomed at the Botanical Garden scientific research institute of the Yassawi University, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The scientists of the institute have been working on innovative tulip breeding techniques in hothouse conditions.

Research was conducted in 2022-2024 with support of the Kazakh Science and Higher Education Ministry as part of the grant project. It is purposed to introduce promising tulip species adapted to local conditions, create a collection of source material for breeding, as well as to develop the flower industry in Kazakhstan.

The project was completed.

Initially 3,000 tulips were planted. 8,000 tulip bulbs of Ace of Spades, Barcelona Blanca, Bullit, Crème Fraich, Crisco, Jumbo Beauty, Lady Bell, Pink Stone, Rebellious Yellow, San Luiz, Showroom, Strong Gold, Triple A, Strong Love species were planted this year.
