First meeting of President of Kazakhstan and President of China laid foundation for closer political dialogue

The leaders of Kazakhstan and China have discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and strategic partnership. Also, during the meeting the sides exchanged views on current international issues and the upcoming Boao Forum for Asia being the important platform for discussion of global development issues.

Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated Xi Jinping on the successful completion of the 1st session of the National People's Congress of the 12th convocation and his election as the President of China.

Kazakh President said that the country appreciated the cooperation of the two countries within the framework of international organizations. Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that our country supported China's intention to take the chairmanship of the CICA for the period of 2014-2016 years.

In turn, Mr. Jinping thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for his outstanding contribution to the development of the Kazakh-Chinese relations.

Kazakh President spoke about the new political course in his country, as set out in the Strategy-2050.

The parties marked the increase in the intensity of trade and economic cooperation. At the end of 2012 the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China rose by 12.5% making $ 24 billion. The agreement has been reached on the need to bring the trade in 2015 to 40 billion dollars.

The parties came to terms to hold special consultations in order to further strengthen bilateral trade.

Huge contribution is made to the development of the interaction by the activities of Kazakh-Chinese Cooperation Committee, covering virtually all major areas of bilateral relations.

In addition, the parties also addressed such topical issues as cooperation in the transport sector, cross-border cooperation, as well as the regulation of transboundary rivers. They made the arrangement on the supply of Kazakh grain and flour to China, as well as the transit through the territory of China to third countries.

The parties noted that the first talks of the President of Kazakhstan and President of China laid the foundation for closer political dialogue at the highest level, and reached the agreement on the state visit of Xi Jinping to our republic.
