First Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks deployed in Astana

ALMATY. January 20. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ "Alcatel-Lucent" company has announced deployment of the first Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON) in Astana today.
National telecom operator - "Kazakhtelecom" company - will use the new network for delivery of advanced broadband services such as IPTV, Video on Demand (VoD) and high speed internet access to individual subscribers and corporate customers.
Use of GPON will allow Kazakhtelecom to expand broadband internet across the country and introduce a wide range of new Triple-Play services.
