First Deputy Chairman of Kazakh National Security Committee appointed SCO RATS Council Chairman

HKENT. October 16. KAZINFORM /Kurmat Samarkhan/ The Council of Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has held its regular 15th session in the Uzbek capital on Friday.

Heads of special services of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in it.

The session participants discussed the issues of cooperation modernization in the sphere of combating terrorism, separatism and extremism.

The Norak-Anti-Terror 2009 joint anti-terrorist command and staff exercise were highly appraised.

Complex measures of the SCO member-states on assisting the PRC and Kazakhstan in ensuring surety of EXPO-2010 in Shanghai, 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and Asian Games 2011 in Kazakhstan were approved.

It is necessary to note that representative of Kazakhstan - First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee Adil Shayakhmetov - was elected as Chairman of the SCO RATS Council.

The next session of the SCO RATS Council is planned to be held in Tashkent in April, 2010.
