Fire erupts in hostel in Kazakh capital
Astana’s firefighting services extinguished a blaze in a hostel on Taraz Street in Astana, Kazinform News Agency has learned from the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations.
As reported by the ministry, the incident occurred in one of the hostels of Baikonur neighborhood in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The fire affected the rooms and roof of the building.
“Upon the arrival of the fire units, the roof and rooms on the fourth floor were engulfed with flames. The rescue team evacuated six people from the third floor using a ladder. According to preliminary data, five people exposed to combustion products were treated by paramedics,” the ministry stated.
The fire that covered an area of 850 square meters was successfully extinguished. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
