FC Shakhter Karagandy defeated by Celtic 2:3 on aggregate, but still make football history
GLASGOW. August 29. KAZINFORM FC Shakhter Karagandy didn't pull off another shock at Celtic Park Arena against Celtic FC in the UEFA's Champions League tonight. The Scottish side dominated the game and won 3-2 on aggregate.
The first half of the match wasn't full of surprises. Three Shakhter players - Simcevic, Canas and Vicius were booked. And, unfortunately, for Kazakh football fans, Celtic FC were the first to open the score. Assisted by Samaras, Kris Commons scored the first goal of the match at the end of the first half. But the Kazakh side was still leading with 2-1 on aggregate.
At the very beginning of the second half Celtic upset the Kazakh club once again with a goal from Giorgos Samaras. Striker Igor Zenkovich who replaced Shakhter's captain Finonchenko at the 83rd minute of the match was shown a yellow card by the referee two minutes later.
Forrest of Celtic FC scored the third goal of the match at the 92nd minute of the match helping his mates join the group stage.
But still FC Shakhter Karagandy is the first Kazakh club to make it that far in the Champions League and make Kazakhstan football history.
