FAO to open office in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is set to open its office in Kazakhstan, FAO Regional Representative for Europe and Asia Vladimir Rakhmanin announced at the VII Astana Economic Forum on Thursday.
In his words, Kazakhstan is one of the world's most important agricultural players with huge potential in that respect. "FAO closely cooperates with the Government of Kazakhstan and we are satisfied with the results of our cooperation. We also believe it [cooperation] can be lifted to a brand-new, higher level. The issue of opening the FAO office in Kazakhstan is in the final stage of development," he noted. FAO Regional Representative for Europe and Asia also stressed that the organization has pinned down the priorities of cooperation and is going ‘to work for the benefit of the Government of Kazakhstan, people of the country and the international community, in the first place.'
