EXPO city to turn into new centre of Astana

"We have launched today the construction of the EXPO 2017 facilities. This complex is of high priority for us. We will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Astana in 2017 along with the opening of Astana EXPO 2017. We have never built such a complex. It will be a new centre of Astana city in fact. It will host unique and attractive, new and innovation facilities," Nursultan Nazarbayev said. According to the President, the brand new architect decisions and innovation technologies will be applied there. Green energy facilities will supply the greater part of the complex with electricity. "It will become the backbone facilities for the Nazarbayev University, its students and scientists to develop new technologies and make new discoveries," the Head of State added. The complex will host 4,000 apartments, a new hotel, a congress hall, and a covered city. The main pavilion will be built in the form of a circle 80 meters in diameter and 100 meters in height and will be surrounded by international pavilions.
