"It should be noted that Kazakhstan is able to become the main transport hub for the goods moved from south to north, taking into account the framework of the EEU. However, we need to develop the southern direction in order to be successful in this sphere. In particular, having access to Iran's southernmost city Chabahar would be beneficial for Kazakhstan. The point is that the government of Iran is presently actively working on development of that special economic zone," he said.

"At the same time, Kazakhstan can develop the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran direction because Turkmenistan is currently working on construction of the transport corridor as well as Iran is working on building the corridor "north-south-east", he added.
