Experts of German Ministry of Internal Affairs visited Astana

ASTANA. July 19. KAZINFORM /Zhanna Korkitova/ Yesterday the representatives of the Kazakh Emergencies Ministry met with the experts of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany. As the press service of the Kazakh Ministry informs, the meeting took place within the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Kazakhstan.

From the Kazakh side the meeting was attended by Minister of Emergencies Vladimir Bozhko, Vice Minister of Emergencies Valery Petrov, Advisor to the Minister of Emergencies Altynbaek Egizbayev and heads of the Ministry's departments.

The German delegation included Director General of the Civil Protection and Disaster Management Department Manfred Schmidt and representatives of the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance Franz Joseph Molitor and Maria Spetter.

The parties focused on the prospects of cooperation, in particular, establishment of a working group on interaction in civil defense, prevention and liquidation of emergencies. Draft Joint Action plan for 2010-2012 on cooperation in civil defense, prevention and liquidation of emergencies was also discussed.

The parties also agreed that Kazakhstan would send a draft Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Germany on cooperation in civil protection, prevention and liquidation of emergencies. In turn, the German side promised to accelerate coordination of the draft Agreement in order to sign it at the beginning of 2011.
