Experts discuss Kazakhstan's public service model in Washington

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) is turning 75 and to celebrate this historic milestone the society organized a special conference "Strategy of improving public service: examples from Kazakhstan" in Washington.

Attending the session was Chairman of the Kazakh Agency for Civil Service Affairs Mr. Alikhan Baimenov who delivered a speech on the evolution of public service system in Kazakhstan and reforms in that sphere. Mr. Yernar Zharkeshov, the Director of a research institute of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan, also took the floor to report on the system of training and research made in the sphere of civil service in Kazakhstan. ASPA President and chairman of the Federal Salary Council Steve Condrey, UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan Stephen Tull and many others attended the event. Participants lauded the reforms Kazakhstan carries out in the public service sector, such as creation of Corps A of civil servants and decrease in the number of civil servants.
