The establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union was discussed during the recent visit of the Belarusian head of state to Kazakhstan, where the parties took note of the importance of creating a new integration association in the former USSR space. Elena Semak did not rule out that once established the Eurasian Economic Union would trigger the integration among the former Soviet countries on the principle of the solar system. "It is extremely possible that we will have such a situation: a solar-system-like integration with a center and other countries joining it," the expert said.

Following the talks with President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Kazakhstan, Alexander Lukashenko noted that strengthening of integration in the Customs Union, the forthcoming establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union demand much closer coordination of actions from both the authorities and the business community. Elena Semak stressed that integration development in the Eurasian space would benefit first of all the business as all types of expenditure in the supply of goods will go down. Besides, the development of the Eurasian Economic Union will increase the access to technologies and resources, both material and educational, as well as help enhance international competitive ability of the participating states, BelTA reports.

Elena Semak stressed that the Eurasian integration is an objective tendency. "The country alone cannot survive in the global economy today. We are gradually moving from competition between countries to the competition between regional groups. Our major task is to remove barriers in the construction of the Single Economic Space and move forward to a more rational organization," the expert said.
