"A check ascertained that on May 31, a 16-year-old schoolboy of 11th form took the Unified State Examination, whose results are yet to be released. The adolescent voiced his thoughts about suicide to his father again between 21:00 and 22:00, on June 1, and tried to leave the apartment. But his father did not let him go out into the street," director of the department of the Investigations Committee under the Prosecutor General's Office (SKP) for Moscow Anatoly Bagmet said.

"There were the boy's mother, grandmother and sister in the apartment. After his father's prohibition, the boy pushed him and his grandmother aside, ran into another room whose balcony door was open, and jumped from the 7th floor," Bagmet said.

A check into the fact of suicide is being carried out by the Golovino district investigations department. The SKP's Moscow department is supervising the probe.

Police have already inspected the scene of the incident and questioned the schoolboy's relatives.

Earlier, Bagmet said it was premature to draw conclusions regarding the motive behind the suicide.

"It's necessary to conduct a thorough probe into the circumstances of the boy's death, carry out the necessary expert examinations and question witnesses," he underlined.

On Wednesday, Moscow police said a 16-year-old schoolboy had jumped out of the window of an apartment house in Pulkovskaya Street and died on the spot of his injuries.

"We know the child failed to pass the Unified State Examination (EGE), and this might have been the motive behind the suicide," a police source said; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
