Ex-premier Chudinov taken into custody in Kyrgyzstan – press

DUSHANBE. August 11. KAZINFORM Former Kyrgyz Prime Minister Igor Chudinov has been taken into custody in Kyrgyzstan, the media said with the reference to the Kyrgyz news agency 24.kg; Kazinform has learnt from Itar-Tass.

No details were provided, but the news agency said referring to Kyrgyz security service officers that wanted Chudinov volunteered to surrender.

Chudinov was the 16th prime minister of independent Kyrgyzstan. Then President Kurmanbek Bakiyev nominated Chudinov for prime minister in 2007. He was relieved of duties in 2009 and put in charge of the Kyrgyz Development Fund. Chudinov led the fund until the events of April 2010, which deposed the Kyrgyz government.

The new authorities accused Chudinov of various crimes, among them abuse of office and inappropriate use of state loans. There have been no official comments on the Chudinov arrest from Kyrgyzstan; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
