Ex-head of Kazakh Statistics Agency appeals decision on her extradition to Kazakhstan

ASTANA. August 6. KAZINFORM The former head of Kazakh Statistics Agency, Anar Meshimbayeva appealed the decision of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation on her extradition to Kazakhstan, the official representative of Kazakhstan's Prosecutor General's Office Nurdaulet Suindikov said on Tuesday at a briefing in Astana.

"The decision on extradition (of Meshimbayeva from Moscow) is being carried out. There is a decision of the Prosecutor General's Office to extradite her to Kazakhstan, what she currently appealed" Suindikov said.

The former head of the Kazakhstan's Statistics Agency is accused of embezzling 764.8 million tenges (153.81 tenge = 1 dollar) allocated for the conducting national census. In 2009, she was put into an international wanted list. In February 2013 Meshimbayeva was detained in Moscow, Kazinform refers to trend.az.
