ASTANA. KAZINFORM - European zoos will help to revive the population of Przewalski horses in Kazakhstan, said Deputy Director of the Association for Conservation of Biological Diversity Sergei Sklyarenko at a press conference "Kazakhstan National Geographic Society operating results in 2014".
According to him, Przewalski horses are expected to be delivered from European zoos. Now, there are about 1600 of these wild horses left in the world, and in Kazakhstan they disappeared from the wild more than 100 years ago. It is also possible to deliver horses from Mongolia and Ukraine. The organization works to revive the Przewalski horses. Kazakh specialists studied the experience of foreign countries. "The programme for the reintroduction of Przewalski horses was launched in Mongolia and China in 1992," said Sergei Sklyarenko. The Przewalski's horse is considered the only remaining truly wild horse in the world.
