European Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister of Finland to visit Kazakhstan

ASTANA. October 1. KAZINFORM Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb is expected to visit Kazakhstan with a working visit on October 2-5.

The Kazakh MFA's official spokesperson Altai Abibullayev made the news public on Monday (October 1).

A.Stubb is to take part in the Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission for Commercial and Economic Cooperation. Nurlan Kapparov, Environmental Protection Minister of Kazakhstan, will represent the country at the session.

During his visit to Kazakhstan the Finnish official is to meet with Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev, Head of the National Bank Grigory Marchenko, CEO of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund Umirzak Shukeyev, Astana Mayor Imangali Tassmagambetov and Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov.

According to A. Abibullayev, 'the sides are believed to discuss the state, prospects and priorities of economic cooperation.'

In addition, A.Stubb will participate in business forums Kazakhstan-Finland both in Astana and Almaty, deliver lectures at KIMEP and Nazarbayev University and pay a visit to Astana cycling team.

Finland's Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade will be accompanied by a delegation of 80 representatives of Finnish companies in the sphere of innovations, energy conservation, technologies, mining industry, construction, education, etc.

In 2011, the sales turnover between Kazakhstan and Finland amounted to 830 million US dollars and exceeded the 2010 result for 73.7%.
