Eurasian integration does not pose a threat to Kazakhstan's sovereignty - MP

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Eurasian integration does not pose a threat to Kazakhstan's sovereignty, believes Kazakhstani parliamentarian Zhambyl Akhmetbekov.
"Rumors that establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) places in jeopardy Kazakhstan's sovereignty have been circulating long before its formation and, I am sure, they will swirl after it. But, in my opinion, the EEU establishment will only strengthen our sovereignty," MP Akhmetbekov said at a press conference in Astana on Wednesday. According to him, currently Kazakhstan is a member of numerous international organizations. "Our country's authority in the international arena goes from strength to strength and nothing can pose a threat to our independence. The Eurasian Economic Union will boost competitiveness of our enterprises and strengthen our economy," Mr. Akhmetbekov added.
