EU vegetables removed from Moscow supermarkets
European vegetables are removed from sale in Auchan supermarkets, a network source told Itar-Tass.
Stores do not receive banned farm products. Only Russian vegetables and products from "permitted" countries are on the counters, trade representatives say.
"We follow the directions of Rospotrebnadzor [the federal customer rights protection and human welfare agency]," the source noted, giving no information about the quantity of removed products and the losses of the networks.
European vegetables are also removed from Metro and other hypermarkets.
There will be no shortage of cucumbers and tomatoes in Moscow due to the import ban, city trade department head Mikhail Orlov told reporters. "No problems with vegetables in Moscow stores and on markets are expected," he assured, adding that farm products are brought to the capital not only from Europe, but from Russian regions and also from other countries.
