Estonian delegation in Karaganda oblast

KARAGANDA. September 8. KAZINFORM /Valentina Yelizarova/ Within the framework of the official visit to Kazakhstan the Estonian delegation headed by Prime Minister Andrus Ansip has visited Karaganda oblast.

The prospects of development of mutually beneficial trade-economic cooperation were discussed at the meeting in the regional akimat. First Deputy Governor Rassul Urazgulov told the guests about the social-economic development of the region. "We propose you to consider an opportunity of import of tinned iron produced by ArcelorMittal Temirtau company", he said emphasizing that the region is open for cooperation.

A.Ansip, in his turn, named some prospective directions of cooperation. According to him, Estonia can share their experience in using information and communication technologies, electric energy production from oil shale with Kazakhstan. Besides, the Estonian Prime Minister noted that there are opportunities for increase of the Kazakh goods transit through the Estonian territory. Also there are big opportunities for tuning up relations in the agriculture sphere.

"In the political plan we have always been good partners. We will support Kazakhstan during the chairmanship in the OSCE. I am sure that our business relations can be brought to higher level", A.Ansip noted.

 According to the data of the Entrepreneurship and Industry Department, over the first six months of 2009 the foreign trade turnover of Karaganda oblast with Estonia made up USD 3.3. mln.
