Environmental security in SCO member states discussed in Beijing
The SCO Secretariate hosted the roundtable discussing environmental security in the SCO member states. The event took place as part of the Joint Action Plan during Kazakhstan’s SCO presidency for 2023-24, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
The roundtable led by the permanent representative office of Kazakhstan in the SCO Secretariat was held on the occasion of the Year of Ecology of the SCO declared in 2024.
The event discussed the issues in the field of ecology and environmental protection in the SCO member states as well as the prospects for strengthening multilateral cooperation in the field.
A constructive exchange of views on ensuring environmental security, search for joint ways to address challenges and threats took place.
The participants of the event reiterated the need for further expansion of cooperation in the ecology and environmental protection field.
Attending the roundtable were the permanent representatives of the SCO member states, UN officials in China, reps of the Kazakh ecology and natural resources ministry, Chinese ecology and environment ministry, public organizations and business circles of China.
