Environmental safety at Sary-Shagan testing site discussed today

ASTANA. June 30. KAZINFORM - Today the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a regular sitting of the inter-agency committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Secretary Kozy-Korpesh Dzhanburchin to discuss the issues of environmental safety.
The problems and questions of environmental safety around the Syra-Shagan testing site and implementation of the activities prescribed by the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants ratified by Kazakhstan in 2007 were discussed at the meeting. Acting Minister of Environmental Protection Eldana Sadvakassova acting Vice-Minister of Defense Bakhytzhan Yertayev delivered reports on the issues on the agenda. As a result of the meeting certain public bodies were given specific instructions.
