Environmental Protection Minister Kapparov visits Kyzylorda region
He held a visiting session with the participation of Akim of Kyzylorda region Kyrymbek Kusherbayev, heads of Russian Federal Space Agency, representatives of central and local executive bodies in Baikonur town. Kapparov is a head of the commission (the group) to monitor the implementation of measures to eliminate the negative environmental impact of the fall of the carrier rocket "Proton-M" on the territory of the cosmodrome on July 2, 2013, set up on the instruction of the Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov.
During the previous visiting session on July 31, 2013 First Deputy Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintayev gave instructions to continue the second phase of detoxification work in the territory of the cosmodrome.
Representative of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Anatoly Belokon, Director of RSE "SEC Gharysh Ecology" of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan (Kazcosmos) Zhailaubay Zhubatov delivered their reports on the progress of the joint Kazakh and Russian efforts on detoxification of soils contaminated with heptyl.
Kapparov expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work on area decontamination. The representative of the Russian Federal Space Agency asked for 15 days to complete detoxification of the territory.
According to the Kazakhstan Environmental Protection Minister, measures to identify the negative effects on the environment and health of people in Baikonur and nearby settlements will continue.
In this regard, he stressed the need to speed up negotiations on the operation of the requirements of the Environmental Code of Kazakhstan at Baikonur.
During the meeting, the administration of Kyzylorda region proposed to hold a conference (roundtable) on the problems associated with the launches of carrier rockets "Proton-M".
Nurlan Kapparov supported this initiative and invited representatives of the Russian Space Agency to participate in a comprehensive discussion of topical issues.
