Environmental protection collaboration between Kazakhstan and United States debated

ASTANA. June 25. KAZINFORM - In Astana Kazakh Minister of Environment Mr. Kapparov met with Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Kerri-Ann Jones, who has arrived in Kazakhstan to attend the 1st meeting of the Kazakh-American Commission on Scientific and Technological Cooperation, the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection informs.
The meeting discussed issues of further development of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States in the field of environmental protection.
June 25 at the meeting of the Kazakh-American Commission Vice Minister of Environmental Protection Marlen Iskakov and regional director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Central Asia Anne Aarnes signed a memorandum of understanding on mutual activities for expanding opportunities for working out strategies to reduce emissions (EC-LEDS) between the Ministry of Environment of Kazakhstan and the Government of the United States, aimed at promoting cooperation in the field of low-carbon development.
