Emir of Qatar to pay official visit to Kazakhstan

ASTANA. January 14. KAZINFORM The Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will pay an official visit to Astana on January 17-18, the press service of the Committee for Investments under the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies says.

On Tuesday, Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev met with Ahmad Al Sayed, the chief executive of the Qatar Investment Authority, Qatar's sovereign wealth fund.

The meeting chiefly focused on possible cooperation and promising projects in the tourist sector, mining and smelting industry, agro-industrial complex, and preparations for the EXPO-2017 event.

Upon results of the meeting, the sides agreed to sign the trilateral memorandum of cooperation in the said areas between the ministry, the Baiterek National Holding and the Qatar Investment Authority. The memo is believed to be inked during the upcoming official visit of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to the Kazakh capital this week.
