Emergency ministry officials fly over Sazdinskoye dam amid flooding in Aktobe rgn
First deputy prime minister Roman Sklyar of Kazakhstan familiarized with the flood situation and coordination efforts carried out by the central and local government bodies in Aktobe region, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from primeminister.kz.
As part of his working visit, the first deputy prime minister got acquainted with the current situation of the Aktobe dam filled to its full capacity due to a large inflow of meltwater over the past few days. Homes located along the Ilek and Kargaly rivers were flooded in Aktobe city as a result of water release.
It was instructed to keep the state of the dam under constant control and carry out works on water release in coordination with the local executive bodies.
Sklyar and the emergency situations ministry officials flew over the Sazdinskoye dam, gardening associations and residential areas along the Kargaly and Ilek rivers as well as examined the protective dams in Alginskiy district.

The state of emergency of local scale has been declared in the region’s Kobdinskiy, Murgalzharskiy and Temirskiy districts as well as Aktobe city due to flooding. Power outages have been recorded in six districts of the region, around 200 homes have been flooded and 2,870 people have been evacuated.

In total, 1,735 people, 350 vehicles and 62 motor pumps have been deployed as part of flood control measures in the region.
The government and the administration pledge support to those affected by floods.
