Emergency Ministries of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan agree to expand coop

"We have reached an agreement on deepening relations and cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan. We are planning to hold joint military drills in emergency response and recovery. In the coming days the city of Atyrau will host oil spill response drill with the participation of Azerbaijani delegation of the Emergency Ministry", said the Minister of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan Vladimir Bozhko. V.Bozhko arrived in Azerbaijan to partake in the 7th International Conference on Disaster Risk Management of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). It has being carried out under the initiative of the ECO and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan. The conference was attended by representatives of Emergency Ministries of the ECO member-states including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan, as well as the UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Children's Fund, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Office Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the UN, the German Federal Agency for technical assistance, the German association for international cooperation, the Japan society for international cooperation, Asia Disaster Preparedness Center, "Freie" University, geology research institute for Central Asia, the International Institute of seismology and earthquake engineering, German Red Cross and the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan. The main objective of the event is the deepening of partnership in the field of civil protection, protection of population and territories from natural and man-made emergencies, between the countries joining the ECO and related organizations.
