Elk blamed for road accident in which 5 die, 1 injured

MOSCOW. April 28. KAZINFORM An elk running across the road has been blamed for a road accident in which five people died and one was injured in Moscow Region, a source in the Region's law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass on Thursday; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
"A Volkswagen minibus, riding in Kolomenskoye District on the night from Wednesday to Thursday ran into an elk that was running across the road at the 125th kilometre of the Federal Higway Ural. Following the impact, the Volkswagen swerved off onto the lane of oncoming traffic," the source said. As a result, the Volkswagen collided with a passenger-carrying Gazel vehicle and caught fire.
"Both drivers and three passengers of the minibus died of injuries and burns on the spot. Yet another passenger of Gazel was hospitalized," the source specified. Identification of the victims is under way.
