Elena Rybakina advances to Miami Open 2024 final
2022 Wimbledon champion, Kazakhstan’s No 1 Elena Rybakina advanced to the Miami Open 2024 final, after beating Belarusian player Victoria Azarenka, Kazinform News Agency learned from Olympic.kz.
The match turned to be tense and competitive, with Rybakina losing in the second set 0:6. But she managed to recover from the slump and won the third set with the final score 6:4, 0:6, 7:6.
In the final she will face Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) or Danielle Collins (USA) for the title.
As reported before, Rybakina is now level with world No 1 Iga Swiatek, after winning Top-10 player Maria Sakkari at the WTA 1000 tournament.
According to Opta, "since 2020, Elena Rybakina (70%) has been one of only two players with a winning percentage of 70% or higher at WTA-1000 events against top 10-ranked opponents, along with Iga Swiatek (71.4%) - minimum 10 matches.
