EITI National Stakeholders Council is always open for propositions - Baurzhan Umirzakov

ALMATY. June 1. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ivanova/ Over the last five years the number of companies which entered into Memorandum of mutual understanding with the Government of Kazakhstan, the companies of extractive industry and NGOs within the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), has risen from 24 to 128. Official representative of the EITI Secretariat Baurzhan Umirzakov informed of it at the 3rd National Conference on EITI in Almaty today.
In accordance with the amendments to the Law On subsoil and subsoil use as of 2007 new companies-subsoil users must join the abovementioned Memorandum, B. Umirzakov reminded. "17 contracts only have been concluded since 2007", he added.
"At present we are involved in development of our working plan, a strategic partnership program and improvement of the reporting forms. The National Council as a coordinator is always open for new ideas and propositions", B. Umirzakov stressed.
