EIB President to visit Kazakhstan

BRUSSELS. June 14. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ President of the European Investment Bank Philippe Amistad is expected to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan during the period from June 30 to July 5, 2010. Such agreement was reached within a meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belgium and Luxembourg, Head of the Kazakhstan Mission to the EU and NATO Yerik Utembayev with the EIB President.

At the meeting Mr. Maystadt said he planned to discuss bilateral cooperation for long-term and short-term period with the country's leadership. He will also take part in the III Astana Economic Forum as a high guest and will open the first plenary session.

It should be noted, that the representatives of the EIB visited Kazakhstan on May 17-22 and had meetings with Prime Minister Karim Massimov, heads of interested ministries and departments, national companies and the regional governors.

In the course of the meetings the EIB representatives expressed interest in the projects which are of strategic importance for Kazakhstan including those which are implemented within the Forced Industrialization Program and the projects directed on cooperation with European markets. Among them are energy and ecological spheres as well as the projects directed on mitigation of the consequences of climate change and search for alternative energy sources.
