EEU will give impetus to agricultural production in member states

According to Sergei Sidorsky, the agricultural policy is the most important section of the EEU Treaty. "For the first time in the last two years, we (the Eurasian Economic Commission and the governments of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan) have defined the general concept of the agriculture industry development in the three states. The three countries have joined together in a powerful agricultural fist that will give impetus to the development of the agricultural production in the Eurasian Economic Union," he said. The three partners have identified the key priorities and cooperation areas, BelTA reports.
The Agriculture Ministry of Belarus hopes that the EEU will have a positive impact on the development of the agro-industrial complex. In particular, as First Deputy Agriculture Minister Leonid Marinich told journalists, Belarus expects to increase its presence in Kazakhstan. "In general, we expect that the union will elaborate a common agricultural policy in order to ensure food security of the EEU countries and also a common export policy," he said.
