EEU countries to have joint energy market by 2019

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A treaty on formation of joint energy market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member countries will be signed in 2019, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Dzhaksaliyev announced on Thursday.

"As you know, the presidents of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia inked the Treaty establishing the Eurasian Economic Union this May. The member countries decided to form joint energy market within the framework of the EEU. Its concept and program are to be drawn up and approved by 2019. There is a lot of discussion ahead," Mr. Dzhaksaliyev said at the seminar dedicated to the prospects of the EEU joint energy market in Astana. At the Astana-hosted seminar experts from Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia will discuss the issues of organization of interstate energy trade between the countries.
