EEC temporarily resets rate of duty on precious metal scrap

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Eurasian Economic Commission has temporarily zeroed the rate of duty on scrap of precious metals, this decision was taken by the Board of the EEC, BelTA informs with reference to the press service of the Commission.

The zero rate will be valid for the period from 1 June 2015 to 31 December 2016 inclusively. Now the rate of import duty on waste and scrap of precious metals is 18% of the customs value. "Reducing the duties for raw materials is essential for the Eurasian Economic Union manufacturers of precious metals wares," said member of the Collegium (Minister) for Trade Andrei Slepnyov. Precious metals are used in various industries such as electronics, civil aircraft, automotive, petrochemical industry, jewelry making, as well as in enterprises of the military-industrial complex.
