EDB’s investments in Kazakhstan up by almost 40% in 2024

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan met with Nikolay Podguzov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), Kazinform News Agency reports.

In 2024, the EDB provided almost 1.4 billion US dollars for projects in Kazakhstan, as the Bank’s investments in the country totaling 3.6 billion US dollars in the past three years.

This year, the Bank is to invest in the country’s socially important projects such as expansion and modernization of CHP plans in central and eastern regions of Kazakhstan, construction of a polyethylene production plant, Altyn Dala solar power plant with a capacity of 545MW.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Bektenov stressed Kazakhstan’s commitment to further expanding cooperation, especially in fields of energy, engineering and utilities infrastructure.

Last year, the EDB’s investments in the Kazakh economy was up by almost 40%. The Bank’s loan portfolio in Kazakhstan rose to up to 63.4% of the total amount, said Bektenov.

Earlier it was reported that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan had held a meeting with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
