EDB to allocate $200 thsd for feasibility study for new Bishkek-Suusamyr road
A signing ceremony of the agreement on technical assistance between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Eurasian Development Bank took place on Thursday, Kabar reports.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan said that within the framework of the technical assistance agreement, a preliminary feasibility study (FS) will be developed for the project to build the Bishkek-Kuntuu-Belogorka-Suusamyr highway.
Funding in the amount of up to USD 200 thousand will be provided by the Technical Assistance Fund (TAF) of the Eurasian Development Bank.
The Bishkek-Kuntuu-Belogorka-Suusamyr highway construction project is designed to relieve congestion on the existing highway between the country's two largest cities - Bishkek and Osh. In addition, it is of strategic importance for the development of the economy and social sphere of the Kyrgyz Republic, since the road will be 164 km shorter than the current route, an alternative road to the southern regions will improve transport accessibility of the developing deposits.
Also, the construction of the road will contribute to the development of international and domestic tourism and trade. It will be possible to launch bus service along the new route, new jobs will appear, both during the construction of the highway and during its operation.
According to the results of 10 months of the current year, industrial production in Kyrgyzstan increased by 5.3% - such data are provided in the weekly review of the Eurasian Development Bank.
