EDB develops coop with UNECE
Earlier, in 2000 at the Millennium Development Goals Summit, the UN member states and international organizations recognized necessity of rendering more active assistance to the poorest countries of the world and adopted eight goals which must be achieved by 2015. In particular, these are expansion of worldwide cooperation, reduction of poverty, hunger, child death and ensuring ecological security.
The EDB and EEC agreed on cooperation in such directions as development of transport and other infrastructure in the territories of their countries; assistance in increasing energy efficiency and energy saving; environmental protection; studying the problems of the effective management of water resources; maintaining innovative development of economy and expansion of mutual trade between EurAsEC states and CIS. The parties agreed on cooperation in implementation of the programs and projects in usage of renewable energy sources for development of agrarian regions of the CA states, primarily, small hydropower.
