Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2013 global presentation to be in Almaty
"Review" is the oldest and most authoritative annual survey of economic and social development in the region. It provides strategic advice for the leaders of this vast and diverse region on the major issues of economic and social policy.
Governments in the region address the reviews as an important tool for the development of the policy agenda for inclusive and sustainable growth. At the presentation the review in Almaty will focus on the development of Central Asia in general and Kazakhstan in particular.
In the review of 2013 there is the first attempt to examine the effect of macroeconomics on three pillars of sustainable development (economic, social services and the environment) in order to achieve maximum results in the most balanced way. Special attention is paid to social issues to make sustainable development comprehensive. This largely corresponds to the ideas and objectives contained in the annual address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy".
The global review presentation-2013 is taking place in more than 30 capitals and cities and it is traditionally opened by the UN Deputy Secretary-General and the ESCAP Executive Secretary Dr. Noeleen Heyzer. Among the participants are prominent state and political public figures, academics, reps of business and social circles.
