ECE considers formation of coordinated transport policies in CU
According to the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the meeting, chaired by a member of the Board (the Minister) on ECE Energy and Infrastructure Danial Akhmetov, has been attended by the heads of transport departments of the CU and EEA member states and the Transport Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
The Kazakh side was represented by the Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev. Particular interest was aroused by the head of the Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Viktor Ivanter who spoke about the research work "Transport Policy of the Common Economic Space for the period up to 2020, time for action".
According to Danial Akhmetov, the results of the study will form the basis for future policy document of the Eurasian Economic Commission regarding coordinated transport policy.
The main issue of the discussion was the section "Transport" of the draft treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, especially those aspects where there is not formed yet common position of the parties.
Another issue on the agenda was a draft "road map" to build "Eurasian Common sky". The meeting agreed that to detail, study the mechanisms and stages of formation of the main approaches of "Eurasian Common Sky'', serious scientific research is needed.
