EBRD to invest about USD 1 bln in Kazakhstan economy in 2011 - Zhamishev

ASTANA. May 5. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development plans to invest about USD 1 bln in Kazakhstan economy this year, Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Bolat Zhamishev has informed of it at a briefing today.
As the Minister noted, the EBRD would allocate EUR 2.8 bln for financing the projects in various sectors of Kazakhstan economy which allowed mobilizing additional investments to the sum of EUR 7 bln. As a result of economic cooperation, the Bank has invested over USD 5 bln in Kazakhstan economy.
"Considering the additional funds attracted from the EBRD partners, these investments hit USD 14 bln", B. Zhamishev clarified.
According to him, USD 6.5 bln was invested in infrastructure projects; USD 3 bln - in banking sector, including USD 400 mln - for small and medium businesses; about USD 2 bln - in energy sector and mineral resources and more than USD 2.5 bln - in industry and agriculture.
