EBRD to invest €2bln in Kazakhstan’s economy under Green Economy Transition concept
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met today President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, who had arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the 36th plenary session of the Foreign Investors Council (FIC), Kazinform News Agency has learned from the Akorda press service.

The sides discussed the prospects for implementation of a number of joint investment projects in various sectors of economy, including small and medium businesses, finance, housing and utilities sector, energy, medicine, agriculture, transport infrastructure, and IT.
The Head of State highly appraised strategic character of cooperation with the EBRD as well as its contribution to Kazakhstan’s economy.
In turn, Odile Renaud-Basso announced the EBRD’s plans in the promising areas of interaction, called to promote sustainable growth, investment climate improvement and modernization in Kazakhstan. According to her, the EBRD closely studies Kazakhstan’s investment projects and stated the EBRD’s interest to further support infrastructure development. In her words, the EBRD plans to invest €2 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy under the Green Economy Transition approach. This year, the EBRD will invest $650 million in Kazakhstan to implement 22 projects.
Odile Renaud-Basso also positively assessed JSC Samruk-Kazyna National Welath Fund’s procurement procedure. She noted that the creditor companies carry out procurements in accordance with the Fund’s rules which indicates trust in its procurement processes and their transparency.
The parties also exchanged views on the pressing issues of the global economic development.
