Dushanbe marks 70th anniversary of victory in Great Patriotic War

He participated in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame in the Victory Park of Dushanbe, according to AKI Press. The ceremony was also attended by the government representatives and members of parliament, the diplomatic corps accredited in Tajikistan, war veterans, and others. Defense Minister Sherali Mirzo reported to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the readiness of units and the Dushanbe garrison for the wreath-laying ceremony and military parade. More than 300 thousand people from Tajikistan participated in the WWII, 92 thousand of them died on the battlefields. A moment of silence was held to honor the memory of the victims of WWII. The ceremony of commemoration of victims was followed by a military parade of the Armed Forces' units and the Dushanbe garrison. The military parade was attended by over two thousand officers and soldiers and workers of the 201 Russian military base in Tajikistan.
