DUBAI. July 29. KAZINFORM The National Olympic Committee of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) confirmed on Friday that Dubai has given up the plan to bid for the 2020 Olympic Games; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
"Whilst a feasibility study into Dubai's capability for hosting the Olympic Games concluded that as much of 70 percent of the 'hard' infrastructure was already in place or planned, it was decided a bid would be better timed for 2024," the NOC said in a statement.
Rome, Madrid and Tokyo have already announced to enter the race, while other potential candidates include Doha, Qatar and Istanbul, Turkey.
South Africa announced last month that it would not bid, but indicated that it's not the final decision.
The IOC will select the 2020 host city in 2013.
