Dubai court commutes sentence to Uzbekistani bomb belt woman
On September 1, 2013, a woman with her minor son entered the Dubai Public Prosecution building and said that she had worn suicide bomber's belt. She threatened to blow herself up, if no one helped to solve the personal dispute and prove that an Emirati man was the father of her son. Russian speaking woman demanded to meet with Emir of Dubai, Shekh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Four security officers and a Russian interpreter held talks which ended peacefully. Z.Khamrayeva demanded to register her 6-year-old son in the name of his father (UAE national), who served his sentenced in the central prison of Dubai. "The belt did not contain any explosive material," local police said. It is the only case to happen in Dubai. According to police, the woman has been living illegally in the UAE for 10 years, and her son is also an illegal resident without any documents.
