Draft Laws on ratification of international Conventions on nuclear security to be discussed in Kazakh Senate

ASTANA. January 14. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Draft laws "On ratification of the Convention on Nuclear Safety"; "On ratification of the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident"; "On ratification of the Convention on Assistance in the Case of Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency"; "On ratification of the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management" were discussed at the plenary session of the Senate Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Kazakh Parliament.
Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Asset Magauov noted that the ratification of the Conventions is a necessary condition for signing a range of agreements on cooperation in the nuclear energy field. Such agreements are planned to be signed with the governments of France, Canada, Japan, China and others.
Upon the discussion the Senators decided to submit the draft laws for consideration of the House.
