Draft Concept of CIS cultural coop being developed

KAZINFORM /Yelena Myagkova/ - Despite economic and geopolitical differences the member-countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States have preserved the solidarity of cultures. It is the culture that will become one of the essential uniting factors that will foster friendship and neighborhood relations between the countries.
Yashar Gusseinly, Director of the Division for Cooperation with International Organizations and Programs under the Department of International Relations and Cultural Programs of Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism voiced these thoughts, the press service of CIS Executive Committee said.
Yashar Gusseinly was elected Chairman of the meeting of expert group for follow-up of the draft Concept of CIS Partnership in the sphere of culture. The meeting was held in Minks, Belorus.
According to Yashar Gusseinly, the document has been created as per the decisions made at the XXII session of the Council for Cultural Cooperation, and contains a package of official opinions and recommendations about the target, principles and main directions of interaction.
The draft Concept consists of several parts which speak for protection of cultural heritage, support of creative activity and promotion of cultural industries. "This implies preservation of movable and immovable monuments, the folklore of CIS nations, support of museums and libraries, theatre and music, promotion of movie industry and book printing", - Yashar Gusseinly explained.
He noted that to make this concept work, they need certain legislative foundation and enter into multilateral and bilateral agreements and prepare qualified personnel.
