Doping scandal will cost 500,000 dollars for Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan

ASTANA. November 11. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan Weightlifting Federation shall pay a fine of 500,000 dollars for athletes caught for doping, says the web-portal vesti.kz.

"In the anti-doping rules of the International Weightlifting Federation (section 12.3.1 . Paragraph G) it is said, in the case of identifying drugs in nine athletes from the same country in a calendar year the National Federation shall pay a fine of 500,000 dollars. In the case of non-payment the federal activities would be suspended for four years", informs the publication .

Thus, if the Kazakh Weightlifting Federation refuses to pay the fine, local weightlifters will not perform at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

NOTE: The International Weightlifting Federation has published the list of weightlifters disqualified for doping this year. There were nine athletes from Kazakhstan, including the 2013 Asian champion Alexandra Aborneva and silver medalist of the Universiade in Kazan Alexander Zaichikov.
