Dombra and Violin. EU sustaining establishment of Central Asian Youth Orchestra

In the framework of the EU programme "Investing in People" the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan and CESVI (the implementing agency) are organizing the Inception Workshop of the EU-funded project titled "Strengthening the Musical Culture in Central Asia through Regional Cooperation, Integration and International Networking" with the objective to present the contents of the action to the main stakeholders in Kazakhstan: the Ministries of Culture and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, main Embassies Cultural Attachés and Cultural/Musical Institutions present in the country.

The event takes place on April 16. The objective of the project is to contribute to the development and promotion of traditional and classical music in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Europe by strengthening regional cooperation, integration and European networking, the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan said.

The main project results are: to reinforce the institutional, managerial and musical capacities of pre-professional music schools in the 3 countries of intervention; to establish and train a Central Asian Youth Orchestra (CAYO) and build its management capacities; and to promote Central Asian and Classical music in Central Asia and Europe through cross-musical exchanges and music performances. In fact, during two years of the project it is expected to establish Central Asian Youth Orchestra and make a promotion of the orchestra around CA and Europe.  Contribution to cross-musical exchanges and music performances should become the ultimate outcome of the project.  

"Music doesn't know borders,"- Filippo Crivellaro, project leader says, - "...it will be the first Youth Orchestra in Central Asia involving young musicians from different Central Asian countries. And we hope to show in the future all around the world the great music potentiality of this part of the world, in terms of both classical and traditional music. At the moment the project foresees concerts in the main cities of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and a mini tour with 3 concerts in Europe, but we hope to be able to enlarge our tours".

The EU contribution for the Project is 398.000 Euro.

The activities of the Project will be implemented in partnership with the Art School for Children "M. Aminzoda" in Tajikistan, the Republican Pre Professional Musical Boarding School "M. Abraev" in Kyrgyzstan and the State Institution "Complex Musical College - Music School for talented children" in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan; and in collaboration with the Ministries of Culture and Education of the 3 mentioned countries.
