Diyarov: Mass media need to cooperate with social networks to attract young people
One of the issues on the agenda of the plenary session of the congress is the interaction between traditional media and social networks. "Social media should not be shrugged off. We need to cooperate with them. But they cannot be seen as competitors. They may be a source of information, but in 80% of cases this information is incorrect. After reading it, people turn to official media for confirmation. News promulgated by state-owned press is true a priori," Dauren Diyarov said.
When talking about the practices used in the Kazinform agency, Dauren Diyarov said: "We are present in social networks; we are a source of information for them. They also help us disseminate information, and reach out to young people who often do not read the official press."
Dauren Diyarov also shared his expectations from the Congress: "It is a meeting of old friends, and is the opportunity to exchange experiences, such as new multimedia trends of information delivery."
