Direct flight on route Tehran-Almaty-Tehran to be opened in May

ASTANA. April 22. KAZINFORM 11th session of the Kazakh-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation took place in the capital of Iran, Tehran, on April 19-20; Kazinform has learnt from the Kazakh Embassy in Iran.

The session was chaired by Kazakh Transport and Communications Minister Abelgazy Kussainov and Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

The issues of development of bilateral relations in the spheres of trade, agriculture, industry, transport, tourism and sport were discussed. As a result the co-chairs signed a protocol reflecting the main directions and prospects of cooperation between the two states.

At a joint press conference following the signing ceremony the head of the Kazakh delegation announced about opening of a direct flight by the route Tehran-Almaty-Tehran by the Iranian Mahan Air. Besides, he informed the local and foreign media about the implementation of the project on Uzen (Kazakhstan) -Kyzylkaya-Bereket-Etrek (Turkmenistan) -Gorgan (Iran) railway line construction. He said the completion of the project was planned for 2011.
